Last year the local super market was giving away little wooden dino kits if you spent 20chf. The boys loved these and enjoyed swapping them to get the full collection.
We decided the dino's needed a home. Now where would dino's live? On a volcano we decided.
From a cardboard box we cut out a base. The volcano it's self was a plastic drink bottle. I then put balls of newspaper and bits of packing polystyrene around it to give us a shape.
Then out came the papier mache. We cut up old newspapers and made up some wall paper paste to stick them down with. To make it a little less messy we used paintbrushes to spread the glue rather than dipping the paper in it.
To make it more realistic we got the paints out. Matthew decided it needed some trees so we stuck some pinecones into bottle tops using the glue gun and painted them green as well.
We then found some red tissue paper for the lava and some green straw left over from Easter. The Dino's loved their new home.
And all it cost was a box of wall paper paste as we had everything else round the house already.
